After months and months of planning-not-planning (mostly planning to plan lol), we are finally off to Tassie. Eighteen lovely long (I hope), days of road tripping around the most gorgeous state of Australia. How fun!
Of course, the build up to it all has been stressful in true Kim style. Organise the accomodation. Organise the transport. Organise the garden. Organise the animals. Organise the house. Organise the work. Organise the son. Organise the joy out of life. You know how it is when you go away. Or is it just me? Quite possibly, it’s just me.
Isn’t it silly? I get so fixated on everything being just right so that we can go away, that I forget to think about the loveliness that will be the actual trip. Thankfully, at the 11th hour, I’m managing to feel rather excited about it all. No, I’m not quite ready on the organisation front - still some accomodation to be booked, some business work to do, sheep to vaccinate but, look out Tassie, here we come!
And by now, I’m sure you’ve guessed who is coming along too!
Ms Violet is rather excited. She has heard that Tassie has tones of the ‘old country’, and so of course, being an English rose (OK, violet), she is busting to explore. She is also in love with her new suitcase and carry basket that Pete kindly made for her, but she’s not so in love with her mode of transportation, as pretty as it is;) We are reassuring her that all will be well and the little sedative will do the trick;)
Honestly, I can’t wait. I plan to have quite a nice chunk of time not working. I'll be posting on Instagram here and there, and Violet has kindly volunteered to send you weekly postcards (yes, Violet is coming to Tassie with us!), but other than that, I’m looking forward to some proper down time.
Ooohhh, let me traipse back to Violet ‘kindly volunteering’. She has been begging me, ever since she introduced herself to you all, to please let her take over the newsletter while we are away. I was hesitant at first because, well, truth be told, I’m worried that I won’t get the reins back once we make it home. Thankfully she has a busy summer planned with Henry and the gang, so I’m sure she’ll be far too preoccupied to continue with the newsletters. Gosh, let’s hope so. I’d hate to have to get all stern and bossy;)
So, be sure to follow along over on Instagram, because Violet has lots of Tassie haunts she wants to share with you along the way, and of course, don’t miss the updates here every Monday. And I shall be on Instagram too, I’m sure.
The Tea + Toast Club December box theme is …
Drum roll ….
Summer Days!
Think slightly retro, hints of muted tangerine, cute (as always!) Lew illustrations, summery vibes.
I’ve just finished ordering the cards and stickers and I’m off to finalise some other goodies before I leave for Tassie.
This box will also include a special treat. It’s an A5 Summer Days print. A nice one to frame or pop on the pinboard, or of course, gift. A lovely thank you to all of my gorgeous Tea + Toast Club subscribers! I have closed the subscription, for now, and so I wanted to love up on all of you who have been subscribing this year. You are so very precious and I hope you enjoy this extra little something for the final box of 2024.
Next year I will re-open the subscription and make some extra spaces available, so if you’ve been wanting in on Tea + Toast, you will get an opportunity in 2025, I promise. Keep your eye on these newsletters because I’ll be sharing all of that gos here first.
A reminder about The Lovely Letters Project …
If you’d like to join in on our monthly snail mail exchange and get back into the loveliness that is writing and receiving letters, then please always know that you are very welcome to join The Lovely Letters Project. It really is a gorgeous group of letter writing women.
Dear Nan …
This past week, over at Dear Nan, I shared Nan’s sponge cake recipe, along with a photo from the album. Sponge cakes were Nan’s favourite celebratory cake and she had a special way of accessorising them. Think whipped cream, jam and fresh fruit, oh and always passionfruit!
If you haven’t subscribed to Dear Nan but you’d like to check it out, you are more than welcome to use your ‘free read’ option to check it out. There are multiple posts each month, plus a piece of downloadable writing paper in a very Nanna-ish design which I know she would have adored. (A big thank you to Lew for creating the illustrations).
To read the free stuff, you’ll need to make sure you are subscribed to this Betty Mae Wrote newsletter:
If you’d like to jump right in and subscribe to Dear Nan, you can do that here:
Okey doke, well that’s it from me for a couple of weeks. Please be sure to tune in to Violet’s updates. She’s so excited! Once a writer, always a writer;) Oh and of course, follow along on Instagram!
PS. I’m worried I may be out of a job when I get home, Violet!
