There's Been A Bit Going On In This Neck of the Woods
Here's a little run down.
That photo has been dragged out of the 2021 archives. I’ve had a bit of a zoosh around the house since then. That plant no longer lives in that pot, for one thing. Actually, do I still have that plant????
My gosh the past few weeks have been busy. Honestly, I’m not used to busy. I’ve been quite accustomed to slow and steady and ‘at my own pace’ (which is very much tortoise speed), so this busyness felt like a bit of a shock to the system.
On top of recording lots of episodes for the podcast (many of them with gorgeous guests who you will get to hear in the not-too-distant future), and working with my lovely Little Life Stories members, I’ve also been doing life stuff. Shock horror!
Lew’s girlfriend and her mum came to stay for 8 days. They live in LA, California, so it was a pretty big deal. It was really lovely and the end result was more connection and specialness but the anxiety leading up to it, for all of us (them included) was a lot.
Next we had a wedding to go to which was 4 hours away, and two nights away. We had an absolutely lovely experience and got to spend some precious time with Pete’s side of the family, who we don’t see often enough. We all stayed in the same area too which meant we had meals together and lots of in between time. It was great and such a beautiful occasion to celebrate.
Then it was home again, home again, jiggety jig, for two nights. Just enough time to catch up with washing and home life and a tiny bit of work and then we were off again!
I got to meet in person, for the first time, a treasured friend, Brenner. We met through Instagram a few years ago now, but our friendship has been blossoming for the past 18 months. It was a really lovely moment in time to meet her, and it has only cemented our friendship in stone.
My bestie had also arrived back from her travels overseas, so I was able to have some lovely quality time with her too which felt much needed. Mostly I love my life of being home and working most days and then the rest of the time doing gardeny things and not much that takes me away from our property. But sometimes I get that need to be around friends and people who fill my cup. And that’s what I got seeing those two gems.
Now it’s time to knuckle down and get back into work and businessy things, which is feeling much better now that I’ve had a couple of days to catch up.
I’d love to know, what have you been up to this past month or so? How do you balance the slow and the busy, or is balance a myth?
I wanted to let you know that my latest podcast episode is out if you’d like to have a listen. It’s the first of my Dear Nan letters and it feels good knowing I’ll have the recording of these as well as the written version of them to keep and treasure. You can have a listen to it here if you’d like:
Oh, something a little different that I wanted to let you know about, particularly if you happen to live local to me.
My friend, Kara, from The Good Stuff Social, is organising a half day workshop for small business owners who are wanting to show up online (and in particular, Instagram) with confidence, clarity and purpose.
The workshop is called Ready, Set Content and it will be held on the 25th of October 10 am - 2:30 pm.
There will be 3 components to the workshop:
Kara will be helping people ditch the overwhelm when it comes to showing up online and creating content with purpose.
Honey Atkinson (another friend), will be teaching people how to create B-roll and talking to camera video with confidence and just your phone.
And I will be helping people to find their unique voice and writing captions that connect them with their online community.
It’s going to be a fun half a day of learning and connecting and sharing skills and I’m looking forward to doing something a little different, and wearing a slightly altered Betty Mae Wrote hat.
I’ll share more of the details next week but if you are local to the Bega Valley, or within a distance that feels comfortable for you to attend, and you’re keen to know more, please email me and we can chat.
Don’t forget the 5 day challenge: Start Your Story for everyone subscribed to my Little Life Stories email list will be starting on the 6th of October.
The aim of the challenge is to help you get started with writing your own life stories (or that of a loved one). If you’d like in on that, please sign up to that email list. The challenge will begin on the 6th of October AEST.
Okey doke, well I think that’s all I needed to tell you!
Until next Monday:)
Have a lovely, lovely week!
Kim x
If you do happen to be new here, hi there! I'm Kim, and I love to share stories of home and childhood, and the moments that connect me with the people and places I love so much. I have a passion for encouraging you to write your own life stories down too and I have a new offering to help women do just that: Little Life Stories. I also have a free Beginner’s Guide to Turn One Memory into a Written Treasure: grab the guide here.
I also love the good old-fashioned art of letter writing, in particular, and of course, all things stationery. I have a gorgeous letter writing group for women, called: The Lovely Letters Project.
I write about the connection between my precious Nan and I, in a letter bundle here: Dear Nan.
I share all of these things over on Instagram, Pinterest and my website.
It’s really lovely to meet you!
